Hi! I'm MamaJ a Well-being Coach, author, social entrepreneur, professional speaker and a mentor

Doing Life Perfectly Imperfect

In 2013, I pivoted from an IT and customer services career to create a non-profit organisation, teaching well-being and resilience in prisons. After ten years, 100's of transformations and four research papers, I've seen the value of sharing this innovative mental health paradigm with social entrepreneurs and people driven by a passion for making a difference. I'm a content creator and an author. My latest book, a 'professional confessional' memoir of my prison work, will be published in Autumn 2023.

Bytes of Insight "Doing Life Perfectly Imperfect" "There is a river flowing deep in the heart of our life. If we can connect with it and follow it, it will carry us where we need to be." Dear Reader, Have you noticed how seemingly random actions lead to unexpected gifts? The more I look, the more I see. There's a cacophony of noise in marketing about how to game algorithms, how long you have to be on platforms, and what sort of posts you should send. Of course, all this advice contains...

Bytes of Insight "Doing Life Perfectly Imperfect" "Everything we produce as artists comes from a source beyond our conscious awareness." Steven Pressfield Dear Reader, We live in a fortunate time when pretty much everyone can create a website, edit a video, start a business, and write a book. But I'm seeing more and more that true craft comes from honing one's skills rather than just starting and learning and moving on. Freedom Friday by MamaJ Energy Boosters: Quick Tips for Multipassionate People ↓ I love it when I find joy in the everyday. The norm. It fills me to the brim :) Today it was a visit to the doctor. Patience while waiting in the packed surgery. I'd had the nudge to take a coffee with me. So I sat and enjoyed my coffee and wrote an outline for a presentation I'm hosting to the Danish-speaking community. I was grateful to the lovely, incredibly busy doctor, she listened and seemed to get me, she...

Freedom Friday by MamaJ Energy Boosters: Quick Tips for Multipassionate People ↓ Sometimes it's just a case of keeping going. Tackling the issues as they occur. Slaying the dragon. I've been creating a new audio course on a wellbeing app called Insight Timer - From Stress To Calm For Busy People. It's a new thing so I started with gusto! Then I encountered some challenges, tech and commitments and lack of drive. But each time I picked up and got the next thing done. My course was rejected...

Freedom Friday by MamaJ Energy Boosters: Quick Tips for Multipassionate People ↓ Have you started projects all fired up with great gusto only to find you lose momentum and never get finished? Me too! So, first of all, stop beating yourself up about it. Remember my motto Be Kind to Your Mind. The Slump: Loss of Momentum You find yourself losing momentum that seemed to be 'the thing' you couldn't wait to do a few days or weeks ago. Time passes and the reasons for not getting going again pile...

Bytes of Insight "Doing Life Perfectly Imperfect" Dear Reader, You're not alone. Seriously, you are really not alone. It feels like it sometimes, doesn't it? You feel like you can't ask for help. You feel like you have to figure stuff out. You get your head down and 'get on with it'. I've even told myself to 'get over myself' when trying to battle through an issue. One of the great wins of my entrepreneurial journey is learning that there are communities of like-minded entrepreneurs who WANT...

Freedom Friday by MamaJ Energy Boosters: Quick Tips for Multipassionate People ↓ There's a difference between feeling overwhelmed (a state of being) and being overworked (a state of doing). I want to help you learn to tell the difference between the two. The Slump: Overwhelmed or Overworked As people who are consciously aware that our state of mind and not 'something out there' affects our feelings, we tend not to notice when we actually need to change something. If you're anything like me,...

Bytes of Insight "Doing Life Perfectly Imperfect" “Time is relative; it's only worth depends upon what we do as it's passing” ~ Albert Einstien Dear Reader, Have you used time as an excuse? Go on be honest, how often do you say one of these: I don't have time to do X I ran out of time There's not enough time in the day I'll do that if I get enough time Or some variation of the above. I know I have! I read a book back in my early days as a coach called The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks that talked...
